What changed in LaneDiff this month: a match plan that shows its working
A LaneDiff scan now opens with a plan instead of ten stat sheets: the one player to watch out for, the one weakness to play through, and the win condition, each with a "Why?" underneath that shows the evidence it came from. The player cards below it are the same reading, one player at a time, and the Discord bot speaks the same reading in voice chat.
That is the whole change. The rest of this post is what each part actually does, and what it will not claim.
What does the match plan say?
Three things, and never more than three:
- Watch out for. The enemy the numbers say is their best player, and what to do about it. "She outranges everyone. Let the wave come to you and clear the traps under your tower."
- Exploitable weakness. The enemy the numbers say is their weakest, with the same instruction shape. "Play through their support Leona."
- Win condition. Whether the game is yours early or late, from both team compositions.
Under each one is a "Why?" toggle. Open it and you get the observations the sentence was built from, the number of games they were drawn from, and one of three labels: Measured (a real sample), Likely (a narrow margin) or Single signal (one observation). A claim we can't show the working for isn't shown at all.
The odds line above the plan follows the same rule. Between 48% and 52% it says "Even on the numbers" rather than pretending to know. It describes the lobby on paper, and it says so.
Where does the evidence come from?
The same place the cards do. Before this month the plan and the cards were two separate vocabularies, so "play through their support" at the top had no line on the support's card that said why. Now there's one reading of the lobby, and both surfaces draw from it.
Collapsed, a card shows the champion, the name, the role, the rank, the badges you already know (duo, off-role, biggest threat, weak link, your lane), and one sentence: the strongest thing the reading says about this player. If the reading says nothing, the line is empty. We don't write filler to fill it.
Expanded, the first section is Why: every read about that player, the observations behind each one, and the confidence label. Tactical analysis, income, farming and build path follow underneath, as before.
The new read this month is early deaths, and it's the one worth explaining because it's easy to overclaim. If a player died twice or more before ten minutes in their last game, we look at who was involved in each death. If the enemy jungler was in on every one of them, the card says they folded to ganks last game. If every death was a straight 1v1, it says they lost the lane before ten. If the deaths disagree, or the victim was the jungler, we say nothing, because a mixed picture isn't a pattern.
Two honest limits. It's one game, the most recent one, and the card says so in every line. And a signal is a reason for a second look, not a verdict on the player.
What should I buy against them?
The shop section now picks for your champion, not for a generic "AP" or "AD". Every recommendation says which enemy property it answers (healing, a suppression, a single fed carry), and which shelf it was picked from: "Picked for a mage in the mid seat." A tank won't be told to buy Oblivion Orb, and a support is steered to the cheaper item on the list when the one at the top is out of reach on a support's income this lane.
What does the Discord bot say now?
The same reading, out loud, before the loading screen ends. Two things changed.
It says less. A brief used to fill its word budget; now a fact is only spoken if it carries a consequence the listener can act on. A clean lobby gets a short brief, and that's correct.
It knows who's listening. The early-deaths read is one instruction to a jungler ("their top is your first gank") and a different one to the top laner ("set up your jungler early"). The bot picks the version for the seat that's in the voice channel, and it doesn't speak a lane instruction to a jungler who can't use it.
Where to see it
The example scouting report is a real scan, frozen, and it shows the plan, the cards and the shop section exactly as a live scan does. If you want the numbers underneath explained, what the numbers on a scouting page actually mean is the post to read next.
